How to fix ID3 tags?
Introduction.
ID3 tags are generally special areas in MP3 files that contain information about the corresponding file: title, artist, lyrics, album art, and more. Sometimes tags of audio files in other formats are also called ID3, although technically this may be not quite correct (there are also FLAC tags, APE tags, etc.).
You can download missing ID3 tags or generate them from filenames using a tag editor like mp3Tag Pro. However, in this article we will consider how to fix some small problems in tags, like slightly different album names in files of the same music album. By most music catalog programs such files will be placed into different folders, which may be quite inconvenient.
Step 1: Download and install the program.
Download mp3Tag Pro to your computer and start the file. Follow instructions of the setup wizard to install the tag editor on your computer.
Step 2: Start the program. Select MP3 to tag.
Launch the tag editor. Its main window will appear:
In the "Folders" area, select a folder containing your music files.
The contents of the selected folder (nested folders and audio files) will be displayed in the main area. Click the green checkmark button in the upper right corner to select all files in the folder.
You can also select files one by one using Ctrl + click to add a file to your selection.
Step 3: Select the correct entry. Save ID3 tags.
When multiple files are highlighted, mp3Tag Pro shows the corresponding value, if it is the same for all selected files, and "<keep>" for fields that have different values.
We have selected songs of one album, but the "Album" field contains "<keep>", which means that there are several variants of the album name. In fact, we can click the arrow next to the field to open a dropdown list that contains all available variants. The variants are sorted by popularity, with the most popular one coming as first.
Now click on the variant that you like the most and click the "Save tags" button on the toolbar:
mp3Tag Pro will save the updated tags to the files.
Now all the songs have the same value in the "Album" field.
